BRONX, N.Y. — November 9, 2014 — St. Anthony's Pat Tucker won the boys championship race at the CHSAA Intersectional championship in 12:24.09, the fastest time on record for the race, and St. Anthony's won the boys team title with 36 points. Bishop Kearney's Lisa Fajardo won the girls championship race in 15:04.89, and Notre Dame Academy won the girls team title with 47.
Tucker, who was third in this race a year ago in 12:47.45, beat the 12:32.40 Chaminade's Thomas Slattery ran in 2013 and held off Fordham Prep's Conor Lundy (12:27.54) by 3.45 seconds. Xavier's John Rice was third in 12:30.29, and all three ran personal bests on an overcast day with temperatures in the mid-40s to mid-50s.
St. Anthony's beat Xavier (65) and Fordham Prep (79), regaining the title Chaminade won in 2013. Joe Tucker was fourth in 12:44.63, followed by Ryan Dearie (13:07.46), Frederick Buckholt (13:08.16) and Michael O'Leary (13:13.26).
Fajardo beat St. John the Baptist's Kate McCormack (15:22.73) by 17.84 seconds, and Notre Dame Academy's Keiana Mitchell was third in 15:38.03. Mitchell, Lauren Pitarresi (fourth) and Sydney Rice (fifth) led Notre Dame Academy past St. Anthony's (85) and Kellenberg (97).
St. Anthony's also won the junior varsity title with 23 points behind a one-two finish from Matt Clarke (13:33.42) and Alex Garcia Rodrig (13:44.09), and the JV B title with 24. Chaminade won the JV C team race with 32 points, though Xavier's Thomas Sternglass won the race in 14:34.11. Bishop Loughlin's Deshawn Simms won the varsity B race in 14:18.32 as Bishop Loughlin took that team title with 43.
In the girls JV race, Kellenberg's Anita Mikowski won in 17:28.72 and teammate Rebecca Marks was second as Kellenberg won with 23 points.
