SOUTH HUNTINGTON, N.Y. — May 21, 2011 — St. John the Baptist senior Victoria Lundin won the Large Schools girls 100 in 12.32 and the 200 in a personal-best 24.83 at the NSCHSAA League Championships, both the fastest times on record for the meet and the fastest on Long Island this season. St. Anthony's junior Olicia Williams won the 400 in 55.85 and the 800 in 2:12.91, also both bests on record, and 13 events in all produced the best marks on record for the meet.
Lundin won the 100 by 0.38 seconds over St. Anthony's senior Emily Taussig and the 200 by 0.56 seconds over Kellenberg senior Michelle Anthony. Williams, who also won the 800 in 2009, beat Kellenberg senior Kimberly Mackay by 2.55 seconds in the 800 and won the 400 by 2.29 seconds; her 400 was the fastest on Long Island this season. Anthony won the 100 hurdles in a personal-best 14.49, another best on record and the fastest on Long Island this season.
St. Anthony's senior Katie Gallagher won the high jump at 5-03.00 and the long jump at 17-01.50, Kellenberg sophomore Natalie Jean won the shot put at 36-10.00 and St. John the Baptist junior Emma Cleary won the pole vault at 9-00.00, all bests on record. Jean also won the discus with a personal-best 108-10. Holy Trinity senior Colleen Schmdit won the 1500 in a personal-best 4:36.62, 0.83 seconds ahead of St. John the Baptist senior Anne Carey, who won the 3000 in 10:15.32. Other girls winners were Mackay in the 400 hurdles (63.91), St. Anthony's Sloane Russ in the steeplechase (7:27.50), Kellenberg's Odrine Belot in the triple jump (36-03.00) and St. Anthony's Imani Williams in the javelin (98-05).
Chaminade junior Thomas Awad won the Large Schools boys 1600 in a personal-best 4:18.28, the fastest time on record for the meet and the fastest on Long Island this season, and also won the 3200 in 9:47.91. St. Anthony's junior Cameron Black won the 110 hurdles in a personal-best 14.90, St. Anthony's junior Michael Brunoforte won the pole vault at 13-09.00 and St. John the Baptist senior Seitu Solomon won the triple jump with a personal-best 45-11.00, all bests on record. Solomon also won the long jump at 21-03.50.
St. Anthony's senior Warner Cooley III won the 400 in a personal-best 49.07, the fastest on Long Island this season, 0.05 seconds ahead of St. John the Baptist senior Hunter Burrell. St. Anthony's junior Adekola Adegbite won the 100 (11.14) and 200 (22.62), and St. Anthony's senior Payton Hazzard won the 800 in 1:57.00. Other boys winners were Kellenberg's Dylan Rosser (58.40) in the 400 hurdles, St. John the Baptist's Matt Zampariello (9:59.29) in the steeplechase, St. Anthony's Christopher Hand in the discus (132-08) and javelin (138-02), St. Anthony's Christopher Pensa (46-00.00) in the shot put and Chaminade's Michael Rufrano (5-10.00) in the high jump.
In the Small Schools races, Saint Mary's Carlton Fielding won the boys 100 in 11.09, St. Dominic's Ryan Kalan won the 200 and St. Dominic's Collin Horace won the 800 and 1600. Olma Syosset's Bridget Krumholz won the girls 200 and 400.
