LONG ISLAND, N.Y. — May 21, 2013 — Freeport senior Jonathan Greenwood won the Class 3A 400-meter dash at the Section VIII Class County Championships in a personal-best 47.86, the fastest time on Long Island this season, and Jericho senior Noah White won the Class 2A discus at 58.11m, the best mark on Long Island this season. White also won the shot put at 16.91m, the second-best on Long Island this season.
Greenwood won the 400 by 0.87 seconds over Elmont senior Obadare Ayo, then finished 0.08 seconds behind Syosset senior Michael Wilkens in the 3A 800, where Wilkens won in 1:55.34. Roosevelt junior Raymond Jones won three Class 1A events: the 100 in a personal-best 11.24, the 200 in 22.73 and the 110-meter hurdles in 15.43. Uniondale senior William Stanback won the 3A 100 in a personal-best 11.14 and the 200 in 22.86.
Hewlett senior Kevin Dehaney won the 2A triple jump at a personal-best 13.86m, the best mark on Long Island this season. Roslyn senior Luke Pascale won the 2A 110-meter hurdles in 15.15 and the 400-meter hurdles in a personal-best 56.05, the second-fastest on Long Island this season. Manhasset senior Stephen Bourguet won the 2A 1600 in a personal-best 4:24.07 and the 3200 in 9:49.03, and Garden City senior Andrew Morra won the 800 in a personal-best 1:55.94.
East Meadow senior Brad Kaufmann won the 3A steeplechase in 9:44.01, the second-fastest on Long Island this season, and Mineola senior Fredric Lang won the 1A race in 9:49.43. Syosset junior Simon Nwana won the 3A 1600 in a personal-best 4:23.77, 0.65 seconds ahead of East Meadow sophomore Michael Grady, and Syosset sophomore Ryan DePinto won the 3200 in 9:46.36. Baldwin senior Kendle Bramble won the 3A shot put at a personal-best 15.35m and the discus at 51.13m.
Valley Stream Central senior Seth Williams won the 3A high jump at a personal-best 1.98m, the same height cleared by runner-up Tyquan Scott of Long Beach. Oyster Bay senior Kyle Cartwright won the 1A 400-meter hurdles in 56.17, Roosevelt junior Nahjeem Lowe won the 1A 400 in a personal-best 50.65, and North Shore senior Ben Kapuscinski won the 1A 1600 in a personal-best 4:28.21. East Rockaway junior Jonathan Schloth won the 1A 3200 in a personal-best 9:49.74.
Other winners included Sewanhaka junior Elijah Smith (2A 200), Wantagh junior Patrick Quigley (2A 100), Hewlett senior Windell Blake (2A 400), Port Washington junior James Burns (3A 110 hurdles), Baldwin senior Treyvon Mask (3A 400 hurdles), Baldwin junior Pascal Bastien (3A long jump), Farmingdale sophomore Jude Pierre (3A triple jump) and Glen Cove senior Franklyn Mickens (2A high jump).
