Mozai Nelson, Patrick Tucker and Nate Small repeat with best marks on record

SOUTH HUNTINGTON, N.Y. — May 17, 2014 — St. Anthony's senior Mozai Nelson repeated in the 100 meters at the NSCHSAA League Championships in a personal-best 10.82, the fastest time on record for the meet and the second-fastest on Long Island this season, and also won the 200. St. Anthony's junior Patrick Tucker repeated in the 3200 in 9:22.66 and Holy Trinity's Nate Small repeated in the 400 hurdles in a personal-best 56.99, both also bests on record.

Nelson won the 100 by 0.34 seconds over Holy Trinity junior Shaka Shomari and took the 200 in a personal-best 22.19, 0.01 seconds ahead of teammate Marlon Montague. Tucker won by 24.17 seconds over Chaminade senior Thomas Slattery, with the second-fastest time on Long Island this season. Small held off Chaminade senior Nicholas Joesten (57.17) by 0.18 seconds and also won the 110 hurdles in 15.96.

St. Anthony's senior Melissa June won the girls 100 in 12.14, the fastest time on record for the meet and the fastest on Long Island this season, and the 200 in 25.09, the third-fastest on Long Island this season. Kellenberg sophomore Gabrielle Noel Schreib won the long jump with a personal-best 18-00.50 and St. Anthony's sophomore Olivia Seifert won the discus with a personal-best 135-02, both bests on record.

St. Anthony's senior Louis Santelli repeated in the 1600 in 4:23.51 and the 800 in 1:55.56. St. Anthony's senior Sebastian Pierre won the 400 in a personal-best 49.25, the second-fastest on Long Island this season, and St. Anthony's senior Brian Kreider won the steeplechase in a personal-best 10:07.11. St. Anthony's junior Michael Rodriguez won the high jump at 6-02.00 and the long jump at 21-06.00, and St. Anthony's senior Luke Schapfel won the pole vault at 13-01.00, all personal bests. Chaminade junior Reginald Verrier won the triple jump with a personal-best 45-04.50, and St. John the Baptist junior Oscar Frisby won the discus at 146-04 and the shot put at 50-01.00, both personal bests.

Kellenberg junior Jazmine Fray won the girls 1500 in 4:44.70 and the 800 in 2:18.71. Kellenberg senior Melany Belot won the 400 hurdles in a personal-best 66.40 and the triple jump at 36-00.00, and was second in the 100 hurdles, 0.01 seconds behind St. Anthony's senior Nichole Anderson, who won in a personal-best 15.15. St. Anthony's senior Stephanie Leo won the steeplechase in 7:33.13 and the 3000 in 11:05.86.

Sacred Heart junior Mary Kate Kenny won the 400 in a personal-best 58.33, St. Anthony's senior Brittany Coscio won the high jump with a personal-best 5-03.00, St. Anthony's freshman Samantha Stetz won the pole vault with a personal-best 9-00.00 and Holy Trinity junior Kristina Insingo won the shot put at 38-00.00.
