Kristina Insingo sets shot put best on record; Shaka Shomari sweeps sprints

SOUTH HUNTINGTON, N.Y. — May 16, 2015 — Holy Trinity senior Kristina Insingo won the girls shot put at the NSCHSAA League Championships for the second straight year at 45-10.50, the best mark on record for the meet, and also won the discus at 125-00. Holy Trinity senior Shaka Shomari won the boys 100 in 11.41 and the 200 in a personal-best 21.89, the fastest 200 on Long Island this season.

Insingo improved on her winning 38-00.00 from last year and finished well ahead of teammate Mariana Mallen (32-05.00). In the discus she beat St. Anthony's junior Olivia Seifert, the defending champion, who threw 120-02. Shomari won the 200 by 0.96 seconds over St. Anthony's junior Justin Percival, who was also second in the 100.

Kellenberg senior Jazmine Fray repeated in the 1500 in 4:49.41, 0.29 seconds ahead of St. John the Baptist senior Kate McCormack, and also won the 400 in 58.47. McCormack won the 800 in a personal-best 2:16.77. St. Anthony's sophomore Halle Hazzard won the 100 in 12.43 and the 200 in 25.64.

St. Anthony's sophomore Samantha Stetz repeated in the pole vault with a personal-best 9-01.00 and won the triple jump with a personal-best 36-07.00. St. Anthony's sophomore Alyssa Yeboah-Kodie won the 100 hurdles in a personal-best 15.12 and the high jump at 5-00.00, and Kellenberg senior Bridget McNierney won the 400 hurdles in 68.26 and the long jump with a personal-best 17-03.00. St. John the Baptist junior Erin Endres won the steeplechase in 7:56.66 and Sacred Heart junior Emily McLean won the 3000 in a personal-best 11:24.72.

St. Anthony's senior Patrick Tucker won the boys 1600 in 4:19.13, the third-fastest on Long Island this season, and St. Anthony's senior Joseph Tucker won the 3200 in a personal-best 9:30.06 by 16.57 seconds. St. Anthony's junior Frederick Buckholtz won the steeplechase in 9:57.67 and St. Anthony's senior Michael O'Leary won the 800 in 1:56.18. Chaminade senior Reginald Verrier repeated in the triple jump at 45-09.75 and won the long jump at 20-10.00.

Holy Trinity senior Ryan Archibold won the 400 in a personal-best 50.31, Holy Trinity junior Jeffrey Young won the 110 hurdles in 15.39 and St. John the Baptist senior Connor Hatton won the 400 hurdles in 58.26. Holy Trinity junior Keon Thomas won the shot put at 46-04.25, St. Anthony's junior Oladimeji Babalola won the discus with a personal-best 121-02, St. Anthony's sophomore Liam Ackerman won the pole vault at 12-06.00 and St. Anthony's sophomore Bryant Lewis won the high jump at 5-06.00.
