Halle Hazzard repeats in 100 and 200 with 12.06 mark on record

SOUTH HUNTINGTON, N.Y. — May 19, 2016 — St. Anthony's junior Halle Hazzard won the girls 100 meters at the NSCHSAA League Championships in 12.06, the fastest time on record for the meet, and also won the 200 in 25.00, the fastest time on Long Island this season. Hazzard won both races for the second straight year.

Hazzard beat Holy Trinity senior Victoria ST John (12.55) by 0.49 seconds in the 100, improving on the 12.14 St. Anthony's Melissa June ran in 2014, and won the 200 by 1.65 seconds over St. John the Baptist junior Brittney Stokes. St. Anthony's senior Olivia Seifert won the discus at 141-08, beating her own 135-02 from 2014, and St. John the Baptist senior Kayla Pollock won the high jump with a personal-best 5-04.00, also the best mark on record for the meet.

St. Anthony's junior Samantha Stetz won the pole vault for the third straight year with a personal-best 9-06.00 and also won the triple jump again at 36-00.50. St. Anthony's junior Alyssa Yeboah-Kodie repeated in the 100-meter hurdles with a personal-best 14.79. Kellenberg senior Gabby Schreib won the 400-meter hurdles in a personal-best 64.27, 0.01 ahead of Sacred Heart sophomore Ellen Byrnes, who won the 400 in a personal-best 58.58.

Kellenberg also won the 800, 3000 and steeplechase, with freshman Maureen Lewin (2:20.12), senior Deirdre Lewin (10:56.02) and sophomore Nora Bennett (a personal-best 7:56.30). St. John the Baptist senior Erin Endres won the 1500 in 4:51.58, St. John the Baptist senior Kristen Dulovic won the long jump with a personal-best 16-09.25, and Holy Trinity sophomore Kim Egalite won the shot put at 31-01.00.

On the boys side, several champions repeated. Holy Trinity senior Jeffrey Young won the 110-meter hurdles in 14.90, the third-fastest time on Long Island this season. St. Anthony's junior Bryant Lewis won the high jump with a personal-best 6-03.00, St. Anthony's junior Liam Ackerman won the pole vault at 13-06.00, St. Anthony's senior Oladimeji Babalola won the discus with a personal-best 134-01 and Holy Trinity senior Keon Thomas won the shot put at 48-05.00.

St. John the Baptist sophomore Patrick Kain won the steeplechase in a personal-best 9:34.55, the second-fastest time on Long Island this season. St. Anthony's swept the top three places in the 1600, led by senior Christopher Langer in 4:25.40, and senior Ryan Kutch won the 3200 in 9:41.76. Two sprints were decided by 0.01 seconds: St. Anthony's senior Justin Percival won the 100 in 11.28 and Holy Trinity sophomore Jaden Antoine won the 200 in a personal-best 22.71.

St. Anthony's senior Frederick Buckholtz won the 800 in a personal-best 1:56.43, St. John the Baptist junior Derrick Magwood won the 400 in a personal-best 50.79, and junior teammate Alvero Garcia won the 400-meter hurdles in a personal-best 58.65. Holy Trinity junior Tyler Dingle won the long jump at 21-01.00 and St. John the Baptist senior Frank Pepe won the triple jump at 42-05.75, both personal bests.
