Dotson, Stoddart, Santos and Claiborne lead record-setting day

LONG ISLAND, N.Y. — May 22, 2018 — Longwood junior Jaheim Dotson won both hurdles races in Division One at the Section XI Boys Division Championships, running a personal-best 14.55 in the 110 hurdles, the fastest time on Long Island this season, and 55.03 in the 400 hurdles. Both times broke marks from 2006, the 14.83 Longwood's Austin Archibald ran and the 55.52 Centereach's Brian Gilmartin ran.

Brentwood senior Jelani Stoddart won the Division One 100 in 10.84, also the fastest on Long Island this season, 0.08 seconds ahead of teammate Julio Rodriguez. Patchogue-Medford senior Carlos Santos won the Division One steeplechase in a personal-best 9:24.98, the fastest on Long Island this season, by 17.49 seconds over Commack junior Dan Czop. Patchogue-Medford senior Joseef Egbetokum-Collins won the 200 in a personal-best 22.08, 0.06 seconds ahead of Stoddart, and the long jump at 6.59m.

Northport senior Elijah Claiborne won the Division One 800 in 1:54.27, 0.23 seconds ahead of teammate Isaiah Claiborne, and the 1600 in a personal-best 4:18.87. Northport senior Dan O'Connor won the 3200 in a personal-best 9:34.74. Commack junior Steven Vasile won the discus at 47.87m and the shot put at 15.64m, and Patchogue-Medford senior Zachary Hicks won the 400 in a personal-best 50.10.

In Division Two, Comsewogue junior Fernando Toledo won the 400 in a personal-best 49.46, 0.04 seconds ahead of Half Hollow Hills West senior Nicholas Duchatellier, and Huntington junior Johnathan Smith won the 400 hurdles in a personal-best 54.98. Hauppauge senior Nick Crociata won the 800 in 1:58.44 and the 1600 in 4:24.86, Kings Park junior Michael Perez won the high jump at 1.95m and Smithtown West junior Nick DeFelice won the steeplechase in 9:48.72.

In Division Three, Babylon senior Vladislav Cullinane won the high jump at 2.03m, and Mount Sinai junior Kenneth Wei won the 110 hurdles in 14.73 and the long jump with a personal-best 6.96m. Southampton senior Sebastian Pereira won the triple jump at 14.58m, Westhampton Beach junior Juan Lasso won the 800 in 1:56.58 and Miller Place sophomore Tom Cirrito won the 1600 in 4:23.52. Sayville senior Douglas Read won the 3200 in 9:50.83 and the steeplechase in a personal-best 10:14.21, and Westhampton Beach senior Laurence Barr-Forget won the 100 in 11.34 and the pole vault at 4.26m.

Walt Whitman junior John Poplawski won four pentathlon events in Division One, and Copiague junior Jackson Bright won four in Division Two.
