LONG ISLAND, N.Y. — May 28, 2025 — Baldwin's Breanne Barnett won the girls 200-meter final at the Section 8 AAA County Championship in a personal-best 24.28, the fastest time on record for the meet and the fastest on Long Island this season, 0.01 seconds ahead of teammate Sariah Doresca. Doresca won the 100 final in a personal-best 12.01, also a best on record and the second-fastest on Long Island this season. Lindenhurst's Jake Albert won the 3200 in a personal-best 9:21.09, the fastest time on record for the race and the fastest on Long Island this season.
Albert won by 7.99 seconds over Ward Melville's Andrew Senf. Great Neck South's Isabella Spagnoli won the girls 2000-meter steeplechase in a personal-best 6:55.12 by 32.48 seconds, another best on record and the fastest on Long Island this season. Barnett also ran the fastest 400 of the day in 56.10, the third-fastest on Long Island this season.
East Meadow's Zaria Hall won the girls 3000 in 10:41.44, 2.67 seconds ahead of Spagnoli, and ran the fastest times in the 800 (2:17.95) and 1500 (4:42.45). Connetquot's Olivia DiGaetano won the other 3000 race in 10:17.87, a best on record, by 11.8 seconds. Ward Melville's Tim Brown won the boys steeplechase in a personal-best 10:00.94, also a best on record, and Farmingdale's Luke Ferraiolo ran the fastest 800 in a personal-best 1:54.41, the second-fastest on Long Island this season.
In the other finals, Baldwin's Nigel Wright won the boys 100 in 11.13, 0.01 seconds ahead of teammate Brandon Thweatt, and the 200 in 22.47. Thweatt won the 110 hurdles in 14.90, and Oceanside's Alexa Kosakowski won the girls 100 hurdles in 15.85 by 1.05 seconds. Syosset's Gavin McGann won the other 3200 race in a personal-best 9:36.22 and ran the fastest section of the 1600 in a personal-best 4:23.93. Middle Country's Sarah Williams won a steeplechase race in a personal-best 7:16.37 and Sachem East's Julianna Wottawa won the race walk in a personal-best 6:54.36, the fastest on Long Island this season. Lukas Derasmo won a boys steeplechase race in a personal-best 10:08.43.
Connetquot's Alex Molter won a pole vault competition with a personal-best 14-03.00, the best on Long Island this season, and Isabella Lucas won a triple jump at 37-8.75, also the best on Long Island this season, and a high jump at 05-02.00. Herricks' Kenneth Ramdayal swept the discus (163-0.0) and shot put (56-1.5), and Connetquot's Essence Wright won the shot put (36-00.00) and discus (99-02.00). Longwood's Garfield Geddes won the long jump at 23-00.25.
Other field winners were Oceanside's Nicholas Carentz (22-3.5), Freeport's Angel Omokeni (18-2.5) and Sachem East's Bella Galeas (17-06.25) in the long jump; Herricks' Jacob Kim (43-11), Connetquot's Jeremiah Davis (44-02.25) and Sachem North's Lara Verbanac (35-09.25) in the triple jump; General Douglas MacArthur's Jonathan Maggio (06-02.00), Connetquot's Fernando Padilla (06-02.00) and Riverhead's Kayleanne Campbell (05-04.00) in the high jump; East Meadow's Arianna Montealegre (35-11.5) and Walt Whitman's Justin Keogler (48-02.50) in the shot put; Syosset's Julia Elmoraly (120-5) and Patchogue-Medford's Jeremiah Newsome (152-03.00) in the discus; and Syosset's Jonah Kim (13-00.00), Longwood's Sophia Drinkwater (10-00.00) and Plainview-Old Bethpage's Cali Yu (09-00.00) in the pole vault.
Freeport's Dorian Boyd and William Floyd's Zavier Jenkins ran the fastest 400 sections in 49.39 and 49.36, and Longwood's Kaden Reid ran the fastest 400 hurdles in 54.49. Bay Shore's Maggie McCormick ran the fastest girls 1500 in 4:31.02 and William Floyd's Zariel Macchia ran the fastest girls 800 in 2:15.11.
