BRENTWOOD, N.Y. — January 31, 2026 — Brentwood's Gabriella Asare ran the fastest time in the 55 Meter Hurdles at the Section XI Girls Large School County Championships, a personal-best 8.16 that was the fastest on Long Island this season. Smithtown East's Rayshelle Brown ran 8.43 in the same section. Port Jefferson's Alexa Jacobs ran the fastest time in the 55 dash, 7.16. Races were run in sections.
Sachem East's Bella Galeas ran the fastest 300, a personal-best 40.38 that was the third-fastest on Long Island this season, and also ran 7.32 in the 55. Connetquot's Elycia Wilkerson ran 41.28 behind Galeas in the same section.
East Islip's Danielle Simonetti ran the fastest 600, 1:38.50, the second-fastest on Long Island this season, and won her section by 10.21 seconds. Ward Melville's Julia Schmitz ran a personal-best 1:38.62 in another section, the third-fastest on Long Island this season, with Deer Park's Chelsea Cornelia second there in 1:38.87.
Eastport-South Manor's Maddie Laezza ran the fastest times in the two distance races, a personal-best 9:51.50 in the 3000 and 4:45.62 in the 1500. Northport's Mia Wickard ran 9:55.34 in the 3000, and Connetquot's Olivia DiGaetano ran 4:46.79 in the 1500.
Harborfields' Sayla Fives ran the fastest 1000, a personal-best 3:02.29, ahead of Cornelia's 3:03.06. Smithtown East's Sophia Alvarez ran the fastest 1500 Meter Race Walk time, a personal-best 7:26.93, 1.62 seconds ahead of Hauppauge's Katherine Dituro.
Connetquot athletes had the best marks in two field events. Angelina Guzman cleared a personal-best 05-01.00 in the high jump, and Luna Valencia threw a personal-best 33-10.25 in the shot put, ahead of Port Jefferson's Mehana Levy at 33-4 and Huntington's Jesley Martinez Canales at 33-2.
Other fast section times included West Babylon's Natalie Tiedemann at 43.08 in the 300 and Smithtown East's Maria Armentano at 43.56, and East Islip's Abigail Humann ran a personal-best 1:43.07 in the 600. The meet was held indoors.
