SOUTH HUNTINGTON, N.Y. — May 19, 2012 — St. Anthony's senior Cameron Black won the 110-meter hurdles at the NSCHSAA League Championships in 14.54, the fastest time on record for the meet, for his second straight title, and teammate Olicia Williams, a senior, repeated in the girls 400 in 55.77, also a best on record for the meet. Kellenberg junior Natalie Jean repeated in both the shot put, with a personal best of 39-02.25 that was the best mark on record for the meet, and the discus, with a personal best of 116-01.
Black improved on his winning time of 14.90 from a year ago and won by 0.85 seconds over Chaminade junior Javaun Porter. Williams improved on the 55.85 she ran to win last year, finishing ahead of Kellenberg senior Odrine Belot (58.22). Belot repeated in the triple jump with a personal best of 38-02.75, the best mark on record for the meet.
St. Anthony's senior Michael Brunoforte repeated in the pole vault at 15-00.00 and St. John the Baptist senior Emma Cleary repeated in the girls pole vault at 10-06.00, both best marks on record for the meet. Chaminade senior Thomas Awad repeated in the 1600 in 4:19.16, 3.22 seconds ahead of St. Anthony's senior Kevin Kreider, and in the 3200 in 9:43.75. Chaminade senior Michael Rufrano repeated in the high jump at 6-03.00, and St. Anthony's junior Christopher Pensa repeated in the shot put at 49-07.00.
St. Anthony's senior Chynna-Monica Chung won the girls 100 in a personal best of 12.31, the fastest time on record for the meet, and the 200 in a personal best of 25.09. Kellenberg senior Ashlin Conroy won the 2000-meter steeplechase in a personal best of 7:25.33, also the fastest on record for the meet, and the 3000 in 10:45.86. Kellenberg freshman Jazmine Fray won the 1500 in 4:39.80 and the 800 in a personal best of 2:13.27.
St. John the Baptist junior Aliyah Smith won the girls 100-meter hurdles and the long jump at 16-10.50, both personal bests. Williams also won the 400-meter hurdles in 65.44, and Kellenberg junior Brittany LeJouan won the high jump at 5-01.00.
In the other boys events, St. Anthony's senior Daniel Graw won the 100 in 11.16, St. John the Baptist senior Thomas DuPlessis won the 400 in a personal best of 49.85 and Kellenberg junior Dylan Murphy won the 800 in a personal best of 1:56.85. Kellenberg senior Connor Barrett won the 400-meter hurdles in 57.80, Chaminade senior Cody Israel won the long jump and triple jump, and St. Anthony's senior Bryan Rhodes won the discus at 147-10.
