Brian Michels, Travon Duncan and John Natalone repeat

PORT JEFFERSON STATION, N.Y. — May 27, 2015 — Patchogue-Medford senior Brian Michels won the Division One 3000-meter steeplechase in 9:47.73 at the Boys Division Championship Meet, his second straight title in the race, 4.69 seconds ahead of Sachem North's Dan Block. Amityville senior Travon Duncan repeated in both Division Three hurdles races, winning the 110-meter hurdles in 14.79 and the 400-meter hurdles in 56.37, and Half Hollow Hills East's John Natalone won the Division One pole vault at 14-00.00 for the second straight year.

Smithtown East sophomore Daniel Claxton won the Division Two high jump at 6-08.00, the best mark on record for the meet. Commack's Joshua Hadity, who won the race in 2013, won the Division One 3200 in a personal-best 9:24.82, 1.74 seconds ahead of Walt Whitman's Chad Maier.

The Division One hurdles races were close. Longwood junior Spencer Payton won the 400-meter hurdles in a personal-best 54.69, 0.01 seconds ahead of Sachem East's Utsav Deshpande, and Half Hollow Hills East's Sam Chimezie won the 110-meter hurdles in a personal-best 14.79, 0.25 seconds ahead of Payton. Ward Melville's Charlie Theiss won the 1600 in 4:22.74, 0.22 seconds ahead of teammate John Ripa, and Ward Melville's Jimmy Laguerre won the 400 in a personal-best 49.26.

In other Division One events, the winners were Lindenhurst's Marquise Williams in the 100 (11.28), Patchogue-Medford's Dominick Cassella in the 200 (22.67), Bay Shore's Luciano Fiore in the 800 (1:55.65), Brentwood's Malik Sainnoval in the long jump (23-05.00), Brentwood's O'Brian Joslyn in the shot put (56-11.00), Half Hollow Hills East's Malik Turner in the discus (147-04), Central Islip's Livingstone Harriott Jr. in the triple jump (46-00.25) and William Floyd's Hasani Rathan in the high jump (6-02.00).

In Division Two, Huntington junior Infinite Tucker won the 110-meter hurdles in 14.48, 0.01 seconds ahead of Copiague's Aaron McFadden, and the 400 in a personal-best 48.93. McFadden won the 100 in 11.19. Harborfields junior Ryan Scanlon won the 1600 in a personal-best 4:19.64 and the 3200 in 9:44.02. Hauppauge's Nick Beglane won the 400-meter hurdles in 55.20, Bellport's Tom Gassner won the 800 in 1:55.13, Half Hollow Hills West's Kory Fitzgerald won the 200 in 22.59, and Copiague's Turner Kelly won the shot put at 57-10.75.

In Division Three, Amityville's Hassan Matthews won the 100 (11.31) and 200 (22.94), Rocky Point's Jerome Vessichio won the 1600 and 3200, and Mercy's Dale Kelly won the 400 in 50.02. Shoreham-Wading River's Matthew Gladysz won the 800 and Port Jefferson's Justin Julich won the steeplechase.
