BRENTWOOD, N.Y. — February 2, 2019 — Commack junior Alissa Braxton won the long jump at 19-00.25 and the triple jump at 40-02.00 at the Section XI Large School Championships, both the best marks on record for the meet. Brentwood junior Brianna Davis ran the fastest time in the 55-meter dash, 7.23, the fastest time on record for the meet and the fastest time on Long Island this season.
Braxton's long jump was a personal best and passed the 18-09.50 Westhampton Beach's Sarena Choi jumped in 2017. Her triple jump also beat Choi's 39-07.50 from 2017, and Longwood's Arianna Mcleod was next best at 39-09.00. Davis beat the 7.25 Choi ran in 2017.
Mount Sinai junior Sarah Connelly ran the fastest times in the 3000 (10:19.15) and the 1500 (4:48.12). Bay Shore's Roshni Singh ran 10:26.28 in the 3000 and 4:53.66 in the 1500. Mount Sinai's Kaitlyn Chandrika ran the fastest 1000 in 3:00.94.
Brentwood junior Donisha Jeanty ran the fastest 600 in 1:37.77, the fastest time on Long Island this season, after winning the event at this meet in 2017. Walt Whitman freshman Gianna Paul ran the fastest 300 in a personal-best 40.77, Longwood's Arianna Mcleod ran the fastest 55-meter hurdles in 8.48, and Bellport sophomore Emily Zahralban had the fastest 1500-meter race walk in a personal-best 7:13.50, the fastest time on Long Island this season.
In the field, Half Hollow Hills East sophomore Soledad Jean had the best high jump at 5-03.00 and Bay Shore junior Caitlin Christie had the best shot put at 38-02.00.
