BRENTWOOD, N.Y. — February 1, 2025 — Mt. Sinai's Tyler Zahra won the shot put at the BOYS Small Schools County Championships with a personal best of 57-07, the best mark on Long Island this season. Shoreham-Wading River's Logan Jung cleared 06-06.00 in the high jump, also a personal best and the best mark on Long Island this season. The running events were contested in sections, and the field events in flights.
Zahra, who came in with four wins this season, improved on his season best of 54-10.75. Walt Whitman's Xavier Ali threw 50-3 and Amityville Memorial's Marlo Barnett threw a personal best of 47-06.75. Jung's previous best this season was 06-02.00, the height Eastport-South Manor's Jaiden Campbell cleared.
Campbell also ran the fastest time in the 55-meter hurdles, a personal best of 8.15. Elwood / John Glenn's Davin Li ran the fastest 55 meters in 6.70, Amityville Memorial's Amari Alcindor ran the fastest 300 in a personal best of 36.48, and East Islip's Joseph Norrby ran the fastest 600 in 1:27.97.
Eastport-South Manor's Justin Albanese ran the fastest 1000 in a personal best of 2:34.86. Harborfields' Hartley Semmes ran the fastest 1600 in 4:30.52, the second-fastest time on Long Island this season, just ahead of West Islip's Gavin DeVito, who ran a personal best of 4:30.55. Commack's Dylan Manning ran the fastest 3200 in 9:42.80, 11.37 seconds faster than his previous best this season.
In the horizontal jumps, West Babylon's Khadin Muhammad had the best triple jump, a personal best of 46-9, and Longwood's Garfield Geddes had the best long jump at 22-5.5. Shoreham-Wading River's Leyton Mangiamele jumped a personal best of 21-8.75 in the long jump.
