Megan Wood and Adaliz Hunt post best marks on Long Island this season

BRENTWOOD, N.Y. — January 26, 2020 — Ward Melville senior Megan Wood threw a personal-best 40-07.75 in the open girls shot put at the Art Mitchell Large School Class Meet, the best mark on Long Island this season, and Middle Country sophomore Adaliz Hunt ran 7.18 in the sophomore 55 Meter Dash, also the fastest on Long Island this season. Events were contested in freshman, sophomore and open sections, several with more than one group.

Mount Sinai senior Sarah Connelly ran the fastest open 1500, 4:45.03, and Westhampton Beach junior Jackie Amato ran the fastest open 1000, a personal-best 3:02.50. Central Islip junior Tattan Thaw ran a personal-best 42.83 in the open 300, 0.07 seconds faster than Kings Park sophomore Caroline Mullady's 42.90, and Copiague junior Trinity Roberts ran 7.42 in the open 55.

Mount Sinai junior Kaitlyn Chandrika ran the fastest open 600, 1:41.59, and Comsewogue senior Ejim Nnate ran the fastest open 55 hurdles time, 8.94. Sachem North junior Analiese Fabrizi ran a personal-best 7:04.89 in the open 1500 Meter Race Walk, the third-fastest on Long Island this season, ahead of East Islip senior Emily Porti's 7:10.83. East Hampton junior Penelope Greene ran the fastest open 3000, a personal-best 11:01.78.

In the open field events, Miller Place junior Angelina Guevara cleared 5-02.00 in the high jump, Connetquot junior Erin Mcloughlin jumped 16-08.50 in the long jump and Mount Sinai senior Sarah Gunasekera had the best triple jump, 35-02.00. Rocky Point junior Brook Pohl threw a personal-best 38-00.50 in the shot put.

Among sophomores, Ward Melville's Julia Bell ran a personal-best 1:43.52 in the 600 and teammate Victoria Laguerre ran 3:09.61 in the 1000. Islip's Keera Kittles ran the fastest sophomore 55 hurdles time, 9.02, Central Islip's Osasi Amene ran 44.80 in the 300, Miller Place's Sierra Gray ran 5:08.02 in the 1500 and Sayville's Sarah Newman ran a personal-best 11:06.12 in the 3000. Bayport-Blue Point's Leeann Redlo cleared 5-00.00 in the high jump and jumped 34-07.75 in the triple jump.

In the freshman races, Port Jefferson's Jenna Jacobs ran 7.95 in the 55, Westhampton Beach's Anabelle Vellosa ran 1:44.28 in the 600, East Islip's Olivia Simonetti ran 3:20.82 in the 1000 and Ward Melville's Amanda Probst ran a personal-best 5:06.77 in the 1500, 11.38 seconds ahead of Eastport-South Manor eighth-grader Ava Rooney. John Glenn's Emily Lamena ran a personal-best 10:22.75 in the 3000, and Sachem North's Katherine Perez ran a personal-best 9.71 in the 55 hurdles. Sachem East's Megan Hoffmann won the freshman race walk in a personal-best 8:50.66.

The meet was held indoors.
